INDUSTRIAL & COMPACT LOUNGE

image: ryan mat
sorry i haven't posted the last couple of days. i am now back with some more posts!! the combination of neutrals in this space is lovely, and i like the collection of personal things...it doesn't feel sterile or impersonal. it is filled with that persons things they have collected over time which is what truly makes a home.

A VANITY OF PRETTINESS

image: pinterest
i don't know about you, but i like having some of my pretties on display...perfume, jewellery etc. these things are naturally feminine and this display takes that and builds on it so the pretties are at home and part of the display instead of another thing that needs storing in the house somewhere. a beautiful ornate mirror and lamp, with some soft pinks and metallics equals...a vanity of prettiness!

THE YELLOW BED FROM SCOUT HOUSE

image: scout house
scout house is a beautiful shop. when i was last in melbourne, i dragged my husband to the store after discovering the yellow bed in an old edition of real living magazine. i fell in love with the bed in the image and immediately wanted one. so when i was next in melbourne i naturally had to visit scout house. it is a beautiful store, a mix of hand-picked vintage and carefully created and curated new things and i fell in love with a lot of different things there. the handmade european quilts were particularly beautiful. i would definitely recommend a stop by if you're in melbourne anytime.

as much as i wanted to buy many things, we only ordered the bed, and i am grateful that my husband was willing to let me a) buy the bed; and b) buy the bed in yellow! it is available in so many colours but i couldn't move away from the yellow. adrian thinks it is quite funny that we have a bed in 'safety yellow'! i was a bit unsure whether i would love it as much as i thought i would when we actually got it home, but i was not disappointed. it is truly a feature piece in our bedroom and i love it! definitely one of my favourite pieces and definitely worth a visit to scout!

PARIS VS NEW YORK, LA FACADE

i really like the paris vs new york prints by Vahram Muratyan. He is a graphic artist from France who has spent some considerable time in New York and started visually representing the differences between the two cities. i love that the images are so simple but convey so much about each city. my particular favourite is the print titles 'la facade'. i think both cities are so easily identifiable from this image. do you agree?

COZY LIVING ROOM

image: the design files

image: the design files
this living room is lovely and cozy and i just want to curl up on the couch with a blanket and a book. the space is not overcrowded or finished with lots of soft soft furnishings, yet still has a cozy and warm vibe. leather and timber are always materials and textures that add warmth to a space, particularly a vintage timber trunk with old metal details. the buttoning in the couch also contributes to the texture of the space, along with timber lining boards instead of a flat ceiling. quite often texture will add warmth. the accessories complete the space, with the silver candlesticks adding some glam, the candles contributing to the warm cozy feeling and the old letters in the aalto vase again adding texture but also some nostalgia and personality (along with the prints on the wall).
